MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Neal Brown has been fired from his position as the WVU Football head coach Sunday, per a release from WVU Athletics.
“Coach Brown is a great person, and he has served as a tremendous ambassador for West Virginia University,” WVU Director of Athletics Wren Baker said in the release. “He led our storied program with class and integrity and always put in the hard work necessary to allow for success. We are grateful to Neal, his wife, Brooke, and their children for their contributions to our University, community and state, and we wish them the very best in their next endeavor.”
The announcement comes one day after the Mountaineers’ 52-15 loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
During his six-year tenure at WVU, Brown led WVU to a 37-35 overall record. The Mountaineers achieved bowl game eligibility in four seasons, including 2024. WVU is 2-1 in bowl games under Brown.
