Media Advisory: West Virginia Inauguration Ceremony scheduled for Friday

Deadline to register is noon, today

CHARLESTON, WV – The 2021 West Virginia Gubernatorial and Constitutional Officer Inauguration Ceremony will be held on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, beginning at 1 p.m., on the North Side of the West Virginia Capitol Building.

Media members/organizations that wish to cover the ceremony, either by attending the event or by capturing the satellite uplink feed, must send an email indicating their desire to do so.

Those wishing to attend the ceremony in-person must RSVP to [email protected] by no later than noon today: Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at 12 p.m.

RSVPs should include the name(s) of each person who will be attending and the outlet they represent. Only those whose names appear on the media list will be granted entry.

For those wishing to cover the inauguration without attending in-person, West Virginia Public Broadcasting will make available a fully produced, multi-camera feed of the ceremony via satellite uplink for media outlets to broadcast live.

Outlets wishing to utilize this option should send an email requesting satellite coordinates to [email protected] by no later than TOMORROW, Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at 12 p.m.

Any media members/organizations wishing both to attend the event in-person and to receive satellite coordinates should indicate as such in their email.

Further details for media will be provided upon receipt of each outlet’s RSVP.

The ceremony will include the swearing in of the Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Treasurer, State Auditor, Commissioner of Agriculture, and Supreme Court Justices.

After taking his oath of office, Gov. Justice will give his inaugural address.
