CHARLESTON, W.Va — The debate started with a host asking if the two candidates for the U.S. Senate would embrace a civil tone.
What followed was an hour of Republican Attorney General Patrick Morrisey calling Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., a “dishonest Washington liberal,” and Manchin evoking the “Morrisey family lobbying shop.”
Both candidates sat down together Thursday for their first and only scheduled debate, hosted by the West Virginia Broadcasters Association just days before the first national midterm election of the Donald Trump presidency.
