HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Wayne County resident and former West Virginia House of Delegates member Derrick Evans was one of more than 1,500 people involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol who were pardoned by President Donald Trump on Monday.
Evans served three months in prison in Michigan for his role in the riot in Washington, D.C. The sentence was handed down by District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth in June 2022 after Evans pleaded guilty to one count of civil disorder, a Class D federal felony.
“I’m happy to have all of my rights restored,” Evans said in an email to The Herald-Dispatch Tuesday evening.
