MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Carl Lucht, the son of former state Sen. Sondra Lucht, allegedly threw his mother across a room into a wall leading to serious injuries.

According to MetroNews and WEPM, the Berkeley County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to them that Sondra Lucht has died. The case is still under investigation to determine if the incident involving her son has any connection to her death.

According to police reports, a criminal complaint was filed in Berkeley County outlining the injuries that occurred Oct. 15. According to the report filed, police were dispatched at approximately 4:15 p.m. for a domestic incident at the home where Lucht lived with his mother.

Patrolman T.S. Wright wrote in his report that when he arrived at the address, he spoke with a pest control employee, who had heard Ms. Lucht yelling for help. The officer’s report indicated that the pest control employee shared that he “entered the home and found a woman lying on the floor, twisted up around a stand, crying in pain.” The employee also told officers that the woman stated that her son had beat her up and taken her checkbook and left.

The officer asked Ms. Lucht what had happened, and she conveyed that her son “had thrown her across the room.” The exchange between Ms. Lucht and Wright was captured on the officer’s body camera. The report indicated that Ms. Lucht said she had been on the floor at least three hours that she could remember.
