Fire at Garden Park apartments destroys 21 units

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Twenty one units at the Garden Park Apartments in the Pea Ridge area were affected by a fire Tuesday morning, and two people were taken to the hospital.

The Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire with entrapment around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.

One occupant and one injured Barboursville VFD firefighter were transported by Cabell County EMS, the fire department said in a Facebook post. While both sustained potential life-altering injuries, according to the post, they were both stable as of Tuesday morning.

According to Lee Davis, a lieutenant with Barboursville VFD, the firefighter was injured when a brick wall collapsed on him.
