CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A former Charleston Marriott Town Center employee admitted Wednesday that he stole nearly $1 million from the hotel over more than a decade and used the money for vacations and vehicles, among other things.
Mark Kuhn, 52, of Milton, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a wire fraud charge in federal court in Charleston. He faces up to 20 years in prison when U.S. District Judge Thomas Johnston sentences him Dec. 5.
Kuhn worked at the downtown hotel from 2005 until this February as an accountant and cashier. He was tasked with collecting and depositing the daily proceeds from various departments. His job also required him to account for the cash and deposits in the hotel’s records.
