HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A 3.3 magnitude earthquake was reported in the Tri-State area Monday afternoon.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was northwest of Chesapeake, Ohio, about 2 miles from Huntington. It happened at 4:39 p.m.
A Cabell County 911 dispatcher said they’d received “a bunch of calls about houses shaking” but so far no buildings were damaged and no injuries were reported because of the earthquake.
A 5.9 magnitude earthquake centered northwest of Richmond, Virginia, was felt in the region on Aug. 23, 2011, causing many downtown Huntington buildings to evacuate.
