CHARLESTON, W.Va. — As the last county in the state called off school for the ninth day in a row due to a strike, the conference committee formed to reconcile differences between the House of Delegates and Senate plans to give teachers and other state employees a raise met for the second time Monday night.
Despite most committee members wanting to wrap up the issue that has kept teachers out of their classrooms, the committee took no action on House Bill 4145, instead adjourning until 9 a.m. Tuesday.
“We are literally out of time,” said Del. Brent Boggs, D-Braxton.
