22 Restaurants participating in 2nd annual event to promote heart health
CHARLESTON, WV — Charleston’s Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP) coalition announced 22 Charleston area restaurants will participate in this week’s second annual Charleston Seafood Week, which starts today and continuing through Sunday, Oct. 16.
Charleston Seafood Week is one of the highlights of SNP’s public health education campaign in the city during October’s National Seafood Month.
During Seafood Week participating restaurants will offer customers a variety of seafood specials in order to encourage Kanawha Valley residents and West Virginians to improve their heart health by eating seafood at least twice a week, as recommended by the USDA Dietary Guidelines. Only 10 percent of Americans currently follow the recommendation.
“Residents of the Kanawha Valley and visitors should try the seafood specials October 10-16 at Charleston’s finest restaurants,” said Alisa Bailey, CEO of the Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Seafood nutrition is good for business and seafood is proven to be good for your heart health.”
