“I want to make a positive difference in the lives of West Virginians,” Gary said. “Our state needs representation by someone who understands issues that are important to us – strong education, safe roads, and respect for others and their property.”

In addition to teaching government and history at JMHS, Gary has been a leader within the American Federation of Teachers. He is the president of the Marshall County chapter of the AFT and is serving on the state executive board.

“As a teacher, it’s important to see our state providing our children with an educational system that allows growth so they can develop into productive contributors to society,” Gary said. “We can do so much better for our children than what’s being done now.”

A graduate of West Liberty State College and West Virginia University, Gary has been teaching for 19 years. In addition, he coaches both the cross country and track teams at Sherrard Middle School.

As a legislator, Gary will not only make a better educational system an emphasis, he will work hard for workers’ rights, road repair and solutions to the opioid crisis.

Gary is a lifelong resident of Marshall County.
