From the Salango for Governor Campaign:
CHARLESTON W.Va. – The West Virginia AFL-CIO has voted unanimously to endorse Kanawha County Commissioner Ben Salango in his campaign for governor.
“West Virginia’s next governor must have a true commitment and dedication to protecting West Virginia’s working families, and that’s why we are proud to endorse Ben Salango,” said WV AFL-CIO President, Josh Sword. “We have seen what Ben Salango has done for the people of Kanawha County, and we know that he has a proven track record of creating good-paying union jobs. As governor, I know that Ben will continue standing on the side of working families, and will always put West Virginia first.”
Sword added, “It’s time West Virginia had a governor who works just as hard as the people do. Ben learned the value of hard work in high school, as a union member bagging groceries at Kroger. We are excited to do everything we can to mobilize our membership to elect Ben Salango.”
“It is time our state has a leader who understands the importance of giving working families a voice in state government,” said Ben Salango. “Throughout my career, and as a County Commissioner, I have always supported organized labor and will continue to do the same as governor. I am honored to receive this endorsement, and I look forward to working with the WV AFL-CIO to move West Virginia forward.”
The West Virginia AFL-CIO represents more than 600 affiliated unions, 70,000 working families, and 70,000 retirees in the Mountain State.
