HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Surveying the aftermath of flash flooding Thursday morning, many residents in the Enslow Park area of Huntington said the situation was not as bad as floods that submerged the neighborhood in 2022, but they still sustained major property damage.
Many people said that their entire basements flooded. Some of them were able to move their vehicles to higher ground just in time.
“It’s the third time we’ve had a once-in-a-generation-flood in the past 15 years. Seems more frequent than once-in-a-generation,” said Quentin Neighborgall, who lives on Washington Boulevard.
He is a fifth generation Huntingtonian who moved away and then returned. He doesn’t want to leave Huntington but has considered moving out of the neighborhood because of flooding. He just had his basement relined and resealed after the 2022 flood.
