CHARLESTON, W.VA. (October 17, 2016) – One of the state’s oldest trade associations, the West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association (WVONGA), has a new president. Maribeth Anderson, of Southwestern Energy, was elected on Oct. 11 at the group’s annual meeting in Wheeling.

“The oil and gas industry in our state represents a bright spot for the economy of West Virginia,” Anderson said. “I’m eager to work alongside others to help make sure we fulfill the potential that this resource offers, especially related to jobs and economic development.”

Nearly 230 companies are part of the association, which celebrated its 100-year anniversary last fall. Anderson is the first woman to serve as the organization’s president.  She is the director of community and government relations for Southwestern Energy.

Anderson expressed her gratitude to Kevin Ellis, vice president of government relations for Antero Resources, who served as president for three years. “He’s been a leader in shale gas development and has brought out the best in the members of this association,” Anderson said.

The full slate of officers include:

President: Maribeth Anderson, director of community & government relations, Southwestern Energy.

Vice President: Tom Westfall, director of Gas Supply & Technical Services, Mountaineer Gas Company.

Treasurer: Kelly Moss, president/CEO, Apex Pipeline Services, Inc.

Immediate Past President: Kevin Ellis, vice president, government relations, Antero Resources Corporation.

Steve Perdue continues to serve as interim director of the association, following the unexpected death of Corky Demarco in July. The WVONGA board is in the midst of a selection process for the new executive director.
