West Virginia Senate Democrats speak out against SB 12 – local health department accountability

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia Senate Democrats, led by Senator Ron Stollings, MD (D-Boone), with Senator Rich Lindsay, (D-Kanawha), directed press conference today with a focus on SB 12 – Relating to local health department accountability.

Democrats say the bill will remove the ability of county or multi-county health departments to set public health policy.

During the Senate floor session on Monday, SB12 was laid over on 3rd Reading 2/22/21 with right to amend

Sen. Stollings said SB12 will place final say in the hands of politicians, rather than health professionals.
