Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va., addresses the audience in Charleston for Wednesday’s opioid forum: Altering the Course — Solutions for the W.Va. Opioid Misuse Crisis. Sponsored by Highmark Foundation and AxialHealthcare, the event included a keynote speech by U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin and several panel discussions on West Virginia’s opioid problem. Jenkins talked people in his life who had dealt with opioid problems. Taking the stage at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jenkins said his speech ended a long day, as he had been up until 3 a.m. watching election returns, traveled to Pocahontas County earlier Wednesday for a meeting on the future of the Greenbank Observatory before attending the opioid forum in Charleston.
