Rural King to bring store, 70-80 jobs to Bluefield

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — Rural King, a national farm and home store chain, will be opening a new location in Bluefield creating approximately 70 to 80 jobs.

According to Rural King Director of Marketing David Bailey, the new store is scheduled to open in late spring 2017.

“We are a farm and home store,” Bailey said. “We sell anything from equine feed to consumables to firearms to clothing. We have a full line of hardware and tools.”

Bailey said new locations usually put in 70 to 80 jobs by opening a store. “We hire right off the street,” Bailey said. “For example, repair shop mechanics, that is always a position we hire locally.”

Bailey said that prospective employees can go to www.rktalent.com and look at the job opportunities available within the new store.

Sources tell the Bluefield Daily Telegraph that Rural King will move into the old Sears location at the Mercer Mall, but the Daily Telegraph was unable to independently verify that information.

According to the website, Rural King Supply planted its roots in Mattoon, Illinois in 1960. Since the start of the company, Rural King has added more than 93 stores in an 11 state area which includes Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Florida, West Virginia and Virginia. According to the website, the heart of Rural King is the corporate office, distribution center and flagship store, located in its city of origin.
