FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Times West Virginian, the seven-time West Virginia Press Association Newspaper of the Year , has an immediate opening for a full-time assistant news editor/writer. Job responsibilities will include copy editing and layout and design of daily newspapers, special sections and other projects, as well as regular writing for daily newspaper, lifestyle pages and magazine.
The position will require some evening and weekend shifts.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of grammar, AP Style and layout and design for a daily newspaper, as well as be able to generate ideas and write stories of high reader interest. Candidate must have strong news judgement, be able to meet deadlines and bring a sense of leadership to the newsroom team. Candidate should have journalism background with a degree in journalism or a related field. Experience is required.
