We operate in a highly competitive market with three other daily newspapers and four network television stations in the North Central West Virginia market.
In addition to the daily newspaper we also publish three weekly newspapers (Bridgeport News, Preston News and Preston Journal) plus three TMC/shopper publications.
We also publish two Full-Color Glossy magazines: NCWV Life magazine which is an upscale regional lifestyle publication (published bi-monthly) that is direct-mailed to 12,000 households with average household incomes of 120k+ over a six-county market and NCWV Real Estate magazine (published monthly) to over 200 rack locations across a six-county market with cutting-edge Internet technology to support MLS listings and search.
We have a very progressive Digital and Social media strategy that is integrated into everything that we do. We currently have six active websites that we drive audience to through our extensive use of social media including video. In addition, we have an in-house Digital & Social media advertising agency – NCWV Media – that offers the best marketing options available across virtually every social media platform.
We are very aggressive in our efforts to diversify our revenue streams and to grow total market share.
The Advertising Director reports to the Publisher and will be responsible for the day-to-day sales and marketing activities of the advertising department.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience as an Advertising Director, Retail Manager, Classified Manager or Marketing Director. We are looking for a dynamic leader who can energize, motivate and train both experienced and beginning staff in partnership selling, creative advertising and marketing ideas, cold-calling, sales presentations, revenue generation and customer service.
Our Advertising staff consists of 16 people including a Key Accounts Manager, Classified Manager, six outside sales reps, two telesales reps, two classified clerks, and an award winning graphic art staff. We’re looking for a creative, enterprising marketer who knows how to sell, motivate and lead in a positive fashion. The ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound is helpful but not required.
Essential Functions
Plan and execute successful sales plans that maximize revenues from current advertisers as well as grow market share from our competition. A successful track record with special sections and the Internet is a must. Ability to meet deadlines and work well with other departments is expected. The ability to listen and respond to advertiser’s needs quickly and professionally. Active involvement in the community is required.
