Facebook Live workshop this weekend in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Learn how to use Facebook LIVE in your newsroom in a hands on workshop presented by the Online News Association West Virginia on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Why use Facebook live to enhance your reporting? Because 1.28 billion people use its services every single day. That’s up a whopping 18 percent higher than last year. The Pew Research Center found that around 44 percent of all Americans get their news from Facebook. So reporters need to harness how to use the Facebook Live tool now more than every before. From NPR to CNN to local newspapers and TV a liates, media outlets across America are incorporating Facebook Live into their daily reporting.

Gina Martino Dahlia will be the speaker. She is a teaching associate professor, the Journalism chair at the WVU Reed College of Media and the GM for the reporting project, 100 Days in Appalachia.

Dahlia will explain why it’s important to integrate this technology into reporting and how you can become a pro at delivering the news using Facebook Live.
