Dominion locks out union employees in WV

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Dominion Hope and Dominion Transmission have locked out union workers from the company’s facilities in six states, including West Virginia.

The company and members of the Local 69 Utility Workers Union of America and United Gas Workers have been operating without a labor contract since the beginning of April.

Dominion officials in West Virginia sent out a letter to elected officials Wednesday informing them that they were blocking the union members from working and that they would be staffing the company’s natural gas distribution and transmission operations with contractors and temporary workers.

The stalled labor negotiations could have the biggest impact on Dominion’s operations in West Virginia. The local union represents around 915 people in six states, and more than 525 of those unionized employees work in West Virginia…
