BECKLEY, W.Va. – West Virginia University School of Nursing Beckley Campus graduates have achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on their NCLEX-RN, the nationwide licensing examination for registered nurses.

The official results from Mountain Measurements of the National Council Licensure Examination – Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) show the May 2024 Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates at the Beckley Campus all passed their exam on the first attempt.

“Our Beckley Campus has shown exponential growth over the past several years,” said Dr. Tara Hulsey, WVU School of Nursing Dean and E. Jane Martin Endowed Professor. “These results show how well prepared our graduates are for their future, no matter which location of the WVU School of Nursing they attend.”

Last year’s graduates at the Beckley Campus earned a 97% first-time pass rate, an increase of 11% since the previous year. The benchmark for the NCLEX-RN first attempt pass rate is 80% in West Virginia.

“I am so proud of our faculty for preparing our students for success,” said Hillary Parcell, Beckley Campus Chair. “I am also tremendously proud of our students. They are clearly dedicated to becoming the best nurses they can be.”

Thanks to fundraising efforts, students at the Beckley Campus of the WVU School of Nursing who pass their NCLEX on their first attempt can receive reimbursement for the test fee.

“We see this as an added incentive for our students to go the extra mile,” Parcell said. “We want to set them up for success in every way possible.”

Additionally, partnership opportunities with area hospitals are available to students for tuition assistance or reimbursement for a work agreement. For more information, contact Parcell at [email protected].

The WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus is located on the WVU Tech campus. To learn more about the nursing campuses, programs and pass rates, visit nursing.wvu.edu.
