For West Virginia Virtual Academy
Charleston — West Virginia Virtual Academy will celebrate its second graduating class during a commencement ceremony on Tuesday, June 2, at 4 p.m. The ceremony will recognize 140 graduates from across the Mountain State as they mark this important milestone and prepare for the next chapter of their journeys.
The Class of 2026 reflects the continued growth and impact of the K12-powered online school’s personalized virtual learning model, with graduates pursuing a variety of college, career, and workforce pathways. Eight students qualified for the prestigious Promise Scholarship, and 26 graduates have already communicated plans to attend college following graduation.
“As we celebrate our second graduating class, we are incredibly proud of the determination, resilience and accomplishments these students have demonstrated throughout their educational journeys,” said Doug Cipoletti, executive director of WVVA. “Our students represent communities from across West Virginia, and each graduate has a unique story and path forward. This class has embraced the flexibility of virtual learning while building the skills and confidence needed for success beyond high school.”
The graduating class represents students from communities across West Virginia who have embraced flexible learning opportunities while balancing academics with personal passions, career goals, extracurricular activities and family commitments.
WVVA’s commencement ceremony will also feature a keynote address from Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., the West Virginia native, season six winner of America’s Got Talent and Columbia Records recording artist. Murphy’s story of perseverance and success has inspired audiences nationwide and reflects many of the same themes of determination and overcoming obstacles celebrated by the graduating class.
“Our goal at WVVA is to ensure students feel supported, connected and empowered to pursue opportunities that align with their individual goals,” Cipoletti said. “Graduation is not only a celebration of academic achievement, but also a recognition of the hard work students, families and educators have invested to help these graduates reach this milestone.”
