By West Virginia House Speaker Roger Hanshaw, R-Clay
“I’m excited to publicly congratulate yet another exceptional achievement for a West Virginia University researcher. Dr. Sally Hodder, a noted expert in addiction research, rural health, and both designing and conducting clinical trials in underrepresented populations, was one of just 100 new members chosen yesterday for the National Academy of Medicine.
“This is a prestigious organization with the stated purpose of working alongside the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Sciences (which recently welcomed WVU astrophysicist Maura McLaughlin) to provide independent, objective analysis and advice across the country. These organizations are the highest honors for these fields; their members are working to solve our most complex problems and inform public policy decisions. As a proud scientist who holds public office, I couldn’t be more pleased that we in West Virginia are now calling another of the world’s foremost experts one of our own.”
