UHC Family Medicine in Bridgeport, W.Va., adds program to combat childhood obesity

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — United Hospital Center is offering the “5210 Way to Go” program to address the prevalence of obesity among children in the Mountain State.

The program is designed to help children prevent obesity or what steps to take to overcome it, according to Dr. Mariana Frias, M.D., and Family Medicine resident at UHC Family Medicine.

Body mass index, or BMI, is the main measure used to determine childhood obesity. Obesity is defined as a BMI greater than or equal to the 95th percentile for children and teens of the same age and sex. …
