U.S. Rep. Evan Jenkins: President Gilbert begins new chapter for Marshall

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement today on the announcement of Jerome “Jerry” Gilbert as the 37th president of Marshall University:

“The selection of Jerry Gilbert begins an exciting new chapter in the history of Marshall University. I have full confidence in his ability to provide the leadership and vision Marshall needs to serve our students, expand our programs, and plan for the future. I look forward to welcoming Jerry and his wife, Leigh, to Huntington and to working with him to grow this great institution.

“I also extend my deepest appreciation to interim President Gary White, who provided the leadership Marshall needed after the loss of President Stephen Kopp. President White is a true son of Marshall and will always be a member of the Marshall University family.”
