Sen. Manchin introduces equal pay legislation after receiving letter from WVU soccer Coach Izzo-Brown

WASHINGTON — In response to receiving a letter from West Virginia University Head Women’s Soccer Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown, Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., introduced legislation that would guarantee equal pay for U.S. soccer teams.

“I received a letter from Coach Izzo-Brown highlighting her worries that women on the WVU Women’s Soccer Team could one day make the U.S. women’s team and not get paid the same as the men’s team. That’s just plain wrong,” Manchin said.

Izzo-Brown pointed out in the letter that the women’s team members earned less than their male counterparts despite recent accomplishments of the team that have not also been seen on the men’s side. …
