“Our people are hurting. West Virginia is facing a budget crisis. We can’t endure any further economic neglect. West Virginia needs a leader who isn’t afraid to stand up for what’s right and make the tough decisions when necessary. I have a record of fighting for people and what West Virginians hold dear, and I am proud of the work I have done.”

Kessler was the first to file pre-candidacy papers for the office last year, stating then, “it’s time for us to take back our state and have Democrats who aren’t afraid to show the distinctions between our party and theirs.” Kessler says he’s that Democrat, and there is no time for on the job training.

“I’ve helped pass legislation to eliminate the food tax and improve access to healthcare to over 170,000 West Virginians. Creating jobs and boosting economic development have been cornerstones of my career. I’ve spent the last two decades standing with West Virginia’s working families; fighting to maintain our prevailing wage, increasing the minimum wage and to provide pay raises for our teachers, service personnel, state employees and county officials. I’ve championed coal mine and workplace safety, paid sick leave for our workforce and been an outspoken advocate for equal rights and equal opportunity for all West Virginians. Now is the time for bold leadership, and that’s why I am running for Governor.”

The West Virginia primary election is May 10, 2016.
