RIC MPO invites public to help shape the future of transportation in Kanawha and Putnam counties

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Regional Intergovernmental Council (RIC) Metropolitan Planning  Organization (MPO) is updating its 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and seeks public input at two upcoming workshops.  

Workshop Dates: 

Kanawha County: September 25, 2024, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM  Location: Downtown Library, 308/309 Conference Room, 123 Capitol Street, Charleston,  WV  

Putnam County: September 26, 2024, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM  Location: Area 34, Putnam Chamber, 971 WV-34, Hurricane, WV  

These workshops provide an opportunity for the public to share their thoughts on transportation  needs in the region. The public can share their vision of Transportation in the Kanawha-Putnam  Metropolitan Planning Area. The 2050 MTP aims to plan improvements over the next 25 years  for Kanawha and Putnam Counties.

About RIC MPO: 

The RIC MPO is the federally designated transportation planning agency for Kanawha and  Putnam Counties, responsible for ensuring transportation improvements meet the needs of the  region. The Metropolitan Transportation Plan forecasts future projects over the next 25 years,  based on expected financial constraints, public participation, and interagency collaboration. The  RIC Policy Board, comprised primarily of elected officials, citizen representatives, and private  sector representatives, is the decision-making body for the MTP.
