Morgantown-rooted MedExpress changes hands

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — It will be business as usual at the region’s MedExpress facilities following the sale of the urgent care provider, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

Optum, a Massachusetts-based health services company, has acquired MedExpress for an undisclosed amount of money, according to a press release.

“We will continue to operate our business as usual,” MedExpress spokeswoman Kelly Sorice said in an emailed statement.

“We are delighted to serve the Clarksburg and (surrounding) community and look forward to continuing to do so,” Sorice added.

Founded in 2001 in Morgantown, MedExpress has 141 full-service, walk-in health care centers in 11 states…
