HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — First Lady Melania Trump is in Huntington today July 8 — along with other federal, state and local officials — for a visit that will focus on the city’s efforts to combat the opioid epidemic.
Kevin McAleenan, acting Homeland Security secretary, also will visit Huntington for the day’s events, which include a roundtable discussion led by his host, U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and community leaders at the Cabell-Huntington Health Department.
U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., also plans to take part in the visits and discussions surrounding the problems of illegal opioid use and how they are being handled locally.
The first lady also is scheduled to break off with a small group for a more intimate discussion about their individual experiences and personal stories, as well as more details regarding the services and resources available within the community. …
