Media Alert: WVU Parkersburg hosting WV Center for Civic Life event

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — The WV Center for Civic Life is hosting nearly 60 attendees, including representatives from five continents, at the Civic Life Institute at WVU Parkersburg’s College Activities Center on Thursday and Friday.

The WVCCL is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that convenes public workshops and provides resources to help people develop productive ways to address common concerns. 

WHAT: Civic Life Institute 2019 hosted by the WV Center for Civic Life (WVCCL)

WHEN: July 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., respectively

WHERE: WVU Parkersburg’s College Activities Center on Main Campus at 300 Campus Drive, Parkersburg, WV 26104

Directions to campus: WVU Parkersburg is located one mile east of the I-77 interchange on the outskirts of the city of Parkersburg, WV. From I-77, take the Staunton Avenue exit (#174) onto Route 47. WVU Parkersburg’s GPS address is 167 Nicolette Road, Parkersburg, WV 26104.

WHO: Nearly 60 attendees, including representatives from five continents, will partake in the Civic Life Institute, sponsored by the WVCCL. The WVCCL is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that convenes public workshops and provides resources to help people develop productive ways to address common concerns. 
 

Peabody award-winner Trey Kay, producer of the nationally-recognized “Us & Them” podcast, will lead a session at the institute that explores the cultural issues that often divide individuals. “Us & Them” is a joint project of West Virginia Public Broadcast, PRX and Trey Kay Productions. 

Additional Details:  Over the past 20 years, the WVCCL has partnered with hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals in community-based initiatives to address issues related to the health, education and economic well-being of West Virginia residents, such as What’s Next WV, a statewide initiative designed to help communities plan actions based on their own ideas for building stronger local economies.
