MEDIA ADVISORY: Young Writers Day celebrates student creativity and talent (May 3)

The West Virginia Department of Education, in partnership with the Central West Virginia Writing Project, Marshall University, and the EdVenture Group will celebrate student writing during the annual Young Writers Day at the University of Charleston. Approximately 240 registered students will participate in grade-appropriate writing workshops led by local authors. Afterward, state winners of the West Virginia Young Writers Contest will be recognized during an award ceremony.

Young Writers Day celebrates student writing and creativity in the Mountain State. Students can express themselves in prose on any topic which entrenches their deep commitment to the importance of writing as a foundational skill that serves as a hallmark of a comprehensive and robust education.
