MEDIA ADVISORY: W.Va. Guard to hold ribbon cutting ceremony for Patriot Guardens Base Innovations facility in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Adjutant General Bill Crane cordially invites our media partners to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Patriot Guardens Base Innovations facility located at 1001 Smith Street, Charleston, West Virginia, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Base Innovations is a small business development and resource center for military and veterans. A collaboration of the West Virginia Military Authority’s Economic Development and Patriot Guardens programs, it offers comprehensive resources tailored to the unique needs of the military community. Whether starting or expanding their business, Base Innovations is designed to be a supportive resource for veterans, military members, and their families.

Some of the resources offered at this facility include:

●      Education and Outreach: Specialized programs and workshops on business development

●      Veteran Transition Agent: Jobs & Hope WV program working to assist veterans with barriers to employment and to connect them with additional resources

●      Workforce Development: Training and networking to enhance skills and employability

●      Personal Offices: Rent workspaces on an hourly or long-term basis

●      Conference Room Rental: Host meetings, seminars, or training sessions

●      Marketing and Consultations: Expert advice on marketing and business management

Stood up by the West Virginia National Guard in 2016, Patriot Guardens is a statewide program that aligns landowners, operators, experts, resources and infrastructure to facilitate agricultural economic development and employment opportunities in West Virginia.

Primarily focusing on the veteran community, the program serves all West Virginia veterans, West Virginia National Guard members, as well as non-military affiliated citizens. The program provides participants with classroom-based and hands-on agricultural and business-related educational opportunities… from hobbyists with a backyard garden, to those operating active and growing agricultural-based businesses.

“Patriot Guardens is helping to metaphorically and literally sow the seeds of new agricultural opportunities for our fellow Mountaineers across the state, demonstrating both potentials and proof of concepts,” said Stewart. “We are so very proud of all we can offer, and we hope more and more folks continue to make agriculture an important and flourishing part of our Almost Heaven home.”
