DETAILS: The West Virginia Department of Education’s (WVDE) Office of Diversion and Transition Programs (ODTP) will host a second chance job fair to provide opportunities for qualified men and women with criminal records to meet employers interested in hiring them. Job seekers have completed sentences in the prison system and participated in the Positive Attitude Through Holistic Learning (PATH) program. PATH assists inmates develop skills needed for successful re-entry into society.

Data show that 75 percent of formerly incarcerated people remain unemployed in the state a year after their release. This contributes to recidivism and increased instability in families and communities.

Employers will staff booths at the event and there will also be an expungement workshop for those interested in understanding how the Second Chance Law can assist them in these endeavors.
