What: WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals will join members of the WVU Cancer Institute to announce the expansion of the Bonnie’s Bus mobile cancer screening program through the purchase of a new mobile mammography unit to serve southern West Virginia.

Who: Speakers include – Dr. Greg Rosencrance, WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals president and CEO; Dr. Hannah Hazard-Jenkins, executive chair and director of the WVU Cancer Institute; and Frank Mullens, City of South Charleston Mayor
Details: In partnership with the WVU Cancer Institute Mobile Cancer Screening Program and with funding from Aetna Better Health of West Virginia, WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals will purchase a second Bonnie’s Bus to build upon the success of the original Bonnie’s Bus, which provides breast cancer screening across the state with a focus on rural areas with limited or no access to screening mammography. Work to procure the new state-of-the art unit is underway with travel anticipated to begin in 2026.
Following the announcement, breast cancer survivors will participate in the annual Courage Walk around Thomas Memorial Hospital.
Tours of the original Bonnie’s Bus will be available following a brief program.
