WASHINGTON, D.C. — In the wake of the Senate’s passage of a national tax reform package, U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va, said it’s likely more will be added to the national debt to keep the government running, while U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., expressed confidence that workers and communities would reap benefits from the bill.
The U.S. Senate passed the tax reform legislation Wednesday by a vote of 51-48. The House approved the bill later Wednesday and sent it to President Donald Trump.
Manchin said additional debt is likely be added to the $1.5 trillion tax overhaul in coming weeks to cover expenses requested by various departments.
