Legal Aid of WV staffers honored at bi-annual state conference

CHARLESTON, W.VA. – Legal Aid of West Virginia (LAWV) staff were recognized by their peers during an awards ceremony during the organization’s bi-annual statewide conference, held recently at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, WV.

Award recipients were chosen by their peers from across the organization’s 12 offices.

— Attorney Kate White from the Charleston office received the LAWV Leadership Award for “significant progress in seeking justice and changing lives.”

— Attorney Josh Fraenkel of Wheeling received the LAWV Advocacy Award for “work achieving significant results for a client or clients.” 

 — Paralegals Diane Calandros of the Logan office and Cathy Jo Townsend-Estep of the Charleston office both received the Gary Barkus Award for Outstanding Achievement In Administrative Law.

— Long-Term Care Ombudsman Ed Hopple from the Morgantown office received the Making A Difference Award for “outstanding collaboration inside and outside the organization.”

Of the honors, Executive Director of LAWV, Adrienne Worthy said, “While we have excellent staff throughout the organization, these five people have gone above and beyond in their dedication and hard work, and we are deeply grateful to them.”
