PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Officials from the Highmark Foundation have announced the recipients of its 2024-2025 Highmark Foundation School Grants and Awards Program, totaling $595,345. The organization received more than 300 applications from across Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Public, private, parochial, charter and vocational high schools throughout the two states were eligible to apply.
The goal of the grants program is to create healthier school environments that experience positive, sustainable and lasting change through comprehensive strategies and awarded grants relating to physical health, school-based health, and social health programs.
“This dynamic grant program puts student wellbeing first, bringing health and safety resources to schools in the Highmark Foundation’s service regions,” said Highmark Foundation President Yvonne Cook. “The Foundation supports the integral role schools play in students’ wellbeing through preventative health programs and early intervention initiatives, and this program demonstrates that commitment.”
This is the 12th year for the Highmark Foundation’s School Grant and Awards Program, and it has awarded more than $4.8 million to date to help bring about healthy changes in schools in Highmark Foundation’s service region.
