Greenbrier County VA Clinic set for Ronceverte

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today welcomed the announcement of a new permanent location for the Greenbrier County VA Clinic.

According to the Beckley Department of Veterans Affairs, the new clinic will be located at 228 Shamrock Lane in Ronceverte. Renovations of the new site are expected to take a minimum of six to eight months. A temporary VA clinic located at 3584 Davis Stuart Road in Lewisburg is expected to open in 2016 and will be operational until the permanent location is completed.

The announcement follows VA Secretary Robert McDonald’s visit to West Virginia in September and previous commitments to reopen the Greenbrier Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).

“For several months, I have been working diligently to reopen the Greenbrier facility and ensure our veterans have access to the best possible medical care. Today’s announcement is welcome news for the many West Virginia veterans who have had to travel long distances in the absence of a nearby clinic. I am grateful to Secretary McDonald for keeping his commitment to our veterans and look forward to the official opening of this important facility,” said Senator Capito.

“Today, we have made an important step to fulfilling our promise of quality care and services to our Veterans in southern West Virginia with the announcement of the reopening of the Greenbrier Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC),” Senator Manchin said. “When Secretary McDonald and I traveled through southern West Virginia in September, we met with more than 200 Veterans who were concerned about their access to permanent care and services. Now with the reopening of the Greenbrier health clinic, they will have access to the permanent quality care they have earned and deserve. The West Virginia Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) and our local Veterans have worked together to achieve this great accomplishment, and I thank them for all of their hard work and dedication. I am pleased the new Greenbrier health clinic will once again open its doors to our Veterans and provide them with the care they are owed.”
