More than $6.3 million in grant funding to support 27 projects statewide

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Funds for community-based corrections programs and substance abuse treatment options available around the  state as part of grants initiative announced by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today.

Tomblin announced plans for the $6,311,801 in West Virginia Community Corrections (CC) Grant program funds today (July 10, 2015). The grants will benefit 27 projects across the state.

“Over the past few years, we have worked hard to improve our state’s justice system by including more community-based corrections and substance abuse treatment options, and we’ve made great progress on both fronts,” Tomblin said. “The presentation of this grant funding will help continue the momentum we’ve built by providing programs with the financial means to develop new and innovative programming and enhance existing initiatives to further safeguard our communities and strengthen West Virginia’s justice system.”

The CCGP is intended to provide a means for communities to develop, establish and maintain community-based corrections programs to provide the judicial system with sentencing alternatives for those offenders who may require less than institutional custody. These funds are administered by the West Virginia Division of Justice and Community Services (DJCS).
