CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston Newspapers’ Metro Department is seeking a community news/special sections editor.
The company has an open position for a hands-on editor who has a passion for local community news, above average photos and human interest articles.
The Community News/Special Sections editor oversees the content and production of weekly community newspapers, special sections, weekly mailers and ROP advertorial pages. Duties also include supervising reporters, a photographer/reporter and obituary clerks. In addition to the above, the editor is involved in layout, proofing, meeting with clients for special sections, sources, interacting with other Charleston Newspaper departments and newsrooms.
The Metro Department is under the supervision of the Charleston Newspapers’ Advertising Department.
Qualifications include:
– experienced in page design using Quark and InDesign
– skilled in the use of Photoshop and Microsoft Office-Ability to multi-task
– Proficient in producing web video
– Work well with sales representatives . Successfully meets deadlines under pressure
– Degree in Journalism.
