CHARLESTON, W.Va. — As the holiday season draws near, Charleston is gearing up for another unforgettable celebration of lights, family fun and holiday spirit. From November 15 through January 1, GoMart Ballpark will come alive once again with the Salango Law Light the Night, West Virginia’s largest winter light display.
Featuring more than 2.5 million lights synchronized to holiday music, Charleston is ready to offer another unforgettable experience for all ages. Launched last year through a partnership between Salango Law, the Charleston Dirty Birds and local leaders, Light the Night has quickly become a cherished holiday tradition.
“Our goal for Light the Night was to create a truly special event for the community, and last year’s response exceeded all our expectations,” said Ben Salango, founder of Salango Law and Kanawha County Commissioner. “Welcoming over 120,000 visitors from across the country to celebrate the holidays in Charleston and Kanawha County was beyond anything we had imagined.”
This year’s event will feature an array of new attractions, including the Round Up amusement park ride, ice bumper cars, a wider selection of inflatables and a classic carousel. These additions will join returning favorites such as the holiday train, ice skating, the iconic Ferris wheel and pictures with Santa.
“Light the Night brings the community together and highlights the vibrant spirit of Charleston,” said Andy Shea, owner and CEO of the Charleston Dirty Birds. “It’s about much more than the lights—it’s about showcasing all the amazing things this city has to offer.”
Beyond Light the Night, Charleston’s downtown will be bustling with holiday activities, including the Holly Jolly Brawley event, perfect for holiday shopping and dining at local restaurants.
“Whether you’re here for a day or planning a weekend getaway, our Capital City provides a beautiful backdrop for creating unforgettable holiday memories,” said Charleston’s Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “Light the Night has quickly become a signature event for our city and state, and we’re looking forward to sharing the magic and wonder of the season with friends and families again this year.”
Commissioner Salango encourages visitors to explore all Charleston has to offer. “Charleston has truly become a place for destination tourism during the holidays—it’s like living in a Hallmark movie,” continued Commissioner Ben Salango. “What’s even more incredible is how this event drives our local economy, generating millions of dollars for small business owners and creating lasting benefits for the region.”
