CAMC teams up with United Way for Day of Caring

West Virginia Press Association

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — One of CAMC’s core values is “service with compassion.” While that usually refers to caring for patients, on Wednesday, Sept. 18, that value extends outside of the walls of the hospital and into its community.

More than 100 members of CAMC’s workforce are participating in the United Way Day of Caring.

Teams of volunteers have spread out across the Kanawha Valley to perform a variety of tasks such as cleaning, pressure washing, painting and cleaning up outside areas around some facilities.

CAMC teams will work at:

  • Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association – 1248 Greenbrier St. (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
  • Mountaineer Food Bank – 160 Jacobson Drive, Poca (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.)
  • Spring Hill Cemetery – 1555 Farnsworth Drive (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
  • Union Mission Ministries – 700 S Park Rd. (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
  • World Scouting Museum – 1615 Washington Street, E. (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
  • WV Health Right – 1520 Washington Street, E (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
  • YWCA of Charleston – Sojourner’s Shelter – 1418 Washington Street, E. (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
  • YWCA Resolve Family Abuse Program, – 1426 Kanawha Blvd., E (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

In addition to the hands-on work, many members of CAMC’s workforce have collected items for the United Way Day of Caring signature project Paws and Claws Animal Shelter Drive.

Employees at the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine are donating food, towels, cleaning supplies and other necessities.
