Barbour Community Health Association kicks off 2024 Healthy Inside and Out seminar series

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Barbour Community Health Association (BCHA) has announced the return of its popular Healthy Inside and Out seminar series for 2024. This year’s programs are designed to empower individuals to take control of their health through a variety of free, expert-led sessions. The seminars cover essential topics ranging from digestive health and strength training to self-defense workshops, offering practical tools for making impactful life changes.

The seminars are open to the public and will be held at the Philippi Wellness Center, located at 22 Columbia Street (behind Mace’s Pharmacy) in Philippi. All sessions are free of charge, but advance registration is required as space is limited.

“Sometimes we don’t realize the power we have over our own health,” says Donna Seaman, Wellness Center Manager for BCHA. “Our Healthy Inside and Out programs are designed to provide participants with the knowledge and tools they need to make positive, lasting changes in their lives. Whether it’s improving your digestive health or gaining confidence in self-defense, we’ve got a session for you.”

Upcoming Seminars Include:

  • How to Have a Happier Digestive System
    Tuesday, October 29, 2024 | 6:30 PM
    Digestive issues can stem from stress, poor diet, or lack of exercise. Rachael Williams, BCHA’s Nutrition Specialist, will address common digestive concerns and provide tips to improve digestive health.
  • Men’s Strength Training (40+)
    Saturday, November 9, 2024 | 8:30 AM
    Led by Mike Holiday, Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer, this session will focus on strength training for men over 40, helping participants stay strong and flexible as they age.
  • Self-Defense: A Course on the Basics
    Saturday, November 9, 2024 | 10:00 AM
    Learn basic self-defense techniques from Jeff Walters, former Philippi Police Chief and Karate Black Belt, alongside Physical Therapist, Mike Holiday.
