Philippi — Barbour Community Health Association (BCHA) proudly announced the recipients of its 2026 healthcare scholarships last week, awarding a total of $2,000 to two local students preparing for careers in healthcare (each student received $1,000 for future endeavors). These annual scholarships reflect BCHA’s ongoing mission to invest in the future of rural healthcare by supporting motivated and compassionate youth from the Barbour County area.

Launched in 2015, BCHA’s scholarship program has provided meaningful support to students committed to health and service-based education and careers. Recipients were selected for their academic achievement, dedication to healthcare, and active involvement in their schools and communities.

Lindsey Weese and Madalynn Wolfe were each awarded scholarships. Both students plan to pursue health-related post-secondary programs, taking important first steps on their journeys to serve others through healthcare.

The scholarships were presented by BCHA’s Chief Executive Officer, Eric Ruf during the Philip-Barbour High School Scholarship Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Philip-Barbour High School.

“We are honored to support these outstanding young individuals as they take the next step toward healthcare education and careers,” said CEO, Ruf. “Their drive to serve others in healthcare-related fields perfectly reflects the values we stand for at BCHA.”

BCHA is committed to fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals through their scholarship program and the organization believes that investing in Barbour County’s youth today helps ensure a healthier, stronger community tomorrow.
