13th annual 5K Turkey Trot held at Belington Wellness Center

BELINGTON, W.Va. — Community sponsors and volunteers came together on Saturday, November 2nd to support Barbour Community Health Association’s thirteenth annual Turkey Trot. This event is held each year to raise funds for the Heart and Hand House and the Belington Presbyterian Church.

The two local organizations come together each year to feed roughly 400 families every Thanksgiving Day. The Belington Presbyterian Church has been hosting Thanksgiving Day dinners since 1995, with the help of 20–25 volunteers who deliver and give out the food to locals.

Kim Bolton, Barbour Community Health Association’s Wellness Center Director said, “”We’re thrilled to see such an amazing turnout for the 2024 Turkey Trot. It’s inspiring to see everyone come together to have a great time and support a wonderful cause. A huge thank you to our generous sponsors and dedicated community members for making this annual event a huge success.”

More than 100 runners and walkers participated in this year’s event. The top male runner went to Scott Nesland with a time of 17 minutes and 36 seconds and the top female runner was Haley Summerfield with a time of 24 minutes and 16 seconds.

Next year’s Turkey Trot is scheduled for November 1, 2025.
