MARTINSBURG — For volunteers who read to children through Read Aloud West Virginia, one prime goal is to create a space in the classroom where reading is simply enjoyable.
“We’re a live commercial for reading,” said Dawn Miller, communications director for the nonprofit organization. “We’re the cheerleaders.”
And that role enables readers to tap their own creativity as they engage the children during the roughly half-hour long weekly reading sessions.
