St. ALBANS, W.Va. — One of the iconic churches in West Virginia will celebrate its 150thanniversary this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18-19.
First Presbyterian Church of St. Albans —well-known as a landmark with its signature bell tower — is located at Kanawha Terrace and 3rdAvenue in downtown St. Albans. The church will celebrate its 150th anniversary this weekend:
Saturday, Aug. 18
1 p.m. — Magician and Animal Balloons, Robert Young
2 p.m. — Games for Kids by Jackie Jones
Adults – puzzles, word search, quiz, board games
2:30 p.m. — Story Telling by Don Ellis
3 p.m. — Crafts for all ages
Cody the Horse rides with Sara Kell
Face painting by Pam Lawson
Music corner with Betty King
Cupcake Walk and/or tour of the sanctuary
4 p.m. — Scottish Dance by Mountain Dance – Learn some reels
5 p.m. — Free time
*6 p.m. — Catered Dinner
7 p.m.— ”Presby Pickers” – Authentic Appalachian Music
Sunday, Aug. 19
9 a.m. — Sunday School with hymn sing
9:30 a.m. — Tour exhibits and visit with friends
10 a.m. — Worship Service
11 a.m. — Reception
Menu: Smoked chicken, 7-layer salad, potato salad, baked beans
Children’s menu: Two hot dogs with fixings and chocolate chip Ice Cream Sandwiches
