MORGANTOWN — First opened in 1975, WVU’s Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system features 8.7 miles of skyway transit and serves 2.2 million passengers a year, said Arlie Forman, associate director of transportation and parking.

And on the first day of classes alone, it serves 25,000-30,000.“The PRT was really designated as a demonstration project to kind of showcase the PRT concept,” Forman said.
The fare to ride the PRT is 50 cents per trip. WVU students can ride for free by swiping their cards; the fees for the service are wrapped up into their student fees…
